What a day. What a night!

OMG TODAY WAS SO BUSY.

Colonial dinner in the evening was awesome, met some very cool people, and talked to seniors for guidance. After coming back, tried to do econ. Headed for ice-skating at 10, came back around 12.30. Ice-skating was SO much fun -- especially because so many people came, and because the DJ was playing really good music.

It's 1.40 AM now. I need to start my econ problem set, and then my ORFE problem set. I won't be getting any sleep tonight, but it's perfectly okay. It was worth it.

The Eye of the Storm

It's always too short. And every time, you "could have done so much more". :(

Fall break, here at Princeton, has come to a close. It's Sunday night, and the fun starts again tomorrow.

I came up with an interesting analogy for fall break (or for that matter, spring break during the spring semester). I liken it to the eye of a storm, and I think it's a very appropriate analogy. What do you think?

Some people view fall break as catch-your-breath-before-it-gets-insanely-busy-again time, some as catch-up-on-all-those-classes-that-I-didn't-read-for time, and some as get-ahead-in-every-possible-class-by-studying-every-minute-of-break-time.

I think I belong to the first category of people, at least judging from my behavior in the breaks I have had so far - and I don't regret it. Not one bit.

This fall break has been very relaxing for me. It started off with a trip to Washington, D.C. to see the Rally to Restore Sanity (Princeton arranged two buses to take us to the rally) - which was fun. I mean, sure I couldn't see the front of the Mall where the stage was because I didn't camp there since 2 AM that morning, but my point here is - why do you really go to a football game or a rally like this one? It's for the atmosphere! Of course you can watch the game much more closely on TV, but you go for the game for the electric buzz in the air. The rally was fun more because of the people around and the signs that they carried than because of the antics on stage itself. And I did think Jon Stewart's speech at the end was well-written.

Besides the rally, I have really just been hanging out on campus - with friends, both sophomores and freshmen. I have also caught up on Chuck - covering the last half of the third season and the first half of the second. Oh, and the best part of the break was the many Indian dinners I went for (on some pretext or the other!).

I didn't study much, and of course I should have. But I don't regret it one bit. From tomorrow morning, the campus is going to be abuzz with activity - people are going to be running to early morning lectures, trying to get last-minute reading done, writing that lab report due the same day, and fretting about upcoming exams and problem sets. College is going to start again. And as hectic and insane as it is going to be, to be honest, I can't wait.

Here's hoping for a great second-half of the semester!

Hectic day

OMG SUCH A HECTIC DAY!

First ORF 309 at 11 am in the morning, then lunch, then frist tech clinic job from 1 to 3, then a rush to complete my eco 362 hw and turn it in by 4.30 at fisher (even though the office didn't close till 5 -- unlike what my preceptor told me), plus the weather was so cold and the wind was so piercing. By 4.30 I was feeling really crappy, thought I had a fever.

I just went to Frist, sat there for about two hours, drank two double Chais. Kaya was there for most of the time, doing some Naacho stuff. And I was talking to her, thinking about stuff, and reading parts of the Economist and the New Yorker that I had just pulled out of my mailbox. And oh oh! For about 80% of the time, she was there too! She was sitting with a friend, around two tables away, and her friend was apparently explaining math (sounded like trig - secant and what not) to her. We looked at each other I think once.

Anyhow, I was really, REALLY tired. I had slept at 5 am that morning as I had been studying for my ORF exam. So I came back around 6.30, shaved, checked my email (that was overdue), went for dinner around 7.45, where I ran into Mark, Jared, Frank, Mandy and Alex.

After I returned, I thought to check out the study break at Sarah and Norma's room -- where they had said they would be showing the Hangover. Megan and Will tried to convince me to go for the Code @ Night thingy -- this event planned by the ACM where a bunch of people sit and code together ALL NIGHT! Sounded like fun, but I was feeling really sick and cold (with a sore throat, and I suspected I had fever -- but maybe that's just tiredness). So I actually spent around 2 hours just at the study break.

The break was fun -- interacted with other freshmen from the hall, and with the RCAs. We were trying to set up the movie on a bigger screen -- but both of our attempts to do so failed -- buying an HDMI cable from the U Store so that we could see the movie on the HUGE TV in the lounge proved to be too expensive ($30 for something I got for $5 on Amazon), and Rohan's monitor didn't work even though I provided them with the VGA to VGA cable that I had lying in the box of my Dell monitor. Eventually ended up watching it on Norma's around 15-inch HP laptop.

Came back and coded for about two hours now. Still a long way to go on this assignment. Memory leaks sound threatening and dangerous, but I have to do what I have to do. I really, REALLY hope that I get this done my tomorrow night at the latest, so that I can study for my four other midterms next week from Sunday onwards (1 on Wednesday, 2 on Thursday, 1 on Friday).

I MUST GO TO SLEEP NOW. It's 2.20 AM -- I slept at 5 AM -- that's around 22 hours -- I guess that's a high for this semester :P but I won't be surprised if I have to beat that sometime later this year or even later this semester.

Adios, and goodnight. I really need to get some rest, so that I can be fit enough to study from tomorrow. Will try to wake up around 9.30 AM.

New Phone!

I can't wait to have a new phone. A new, sleek, sexy beast that can serve as my computer when I am actually not working on my laptop.

There are a number of really attractive devices out there right now, including the Droid and the Droid Incredible (drool), but I'm waiting for more releases - like the htc evo 4g (releasing soon, on 4th June '10) and the Motorola Shadow - I'm REALLY eager about Shadow. There's also the new iPhone but I am not an apple fan, plus I think it's gonna suck compared to the other android phones which are taking the market by storm.

Let's see then! By the end of the summer, a lot of mind blowing android touch devices would have been released, and I will make my decision after carefully considering phone specs and reviews etc. After all, it's a big decision cuz it's gonna be a 2-odd year contract.

Good luck to me, and I hope some really stunning devices are unveiled this summer! :)

P.S. OMG I am leaving tomorrow afternoon, and still have to do considerable packing! :( guess I should get back to that! :)

Liar Liar

HAHAHAHA - some good quotes from Liar Liar, which I am re-watching right now :

Fletcher: Your honor, I object!
Judge: Why?
Fletcher: Because it's devastating to my case!
Judge: Overruled.
Fletcher: Good call!

Max Reede: My teacher tells me beauty is on the inside.
Fletcher: That's just something ugly people say.

Fletcher: Your honor, would the court be willing to grant me a short bathroom break?
Judge: Can't it wait?
Fletcher: Yes it can. But I've heard that if you hold it you could damage the prostate gland, making it very difficult to get an erection, or even become aroused!
Judge: Is that true?
Fletcher: It has to be!
Judge: In that case I'd better take a quick break myself.
